Every year, next to the mother church or in the main square, the towns and villages hold popular celebrations, pilgrimages or annual fairs, with dancing and singing. They are authentic homages to their patron saints, and are a mixture of the religious and the profane. At the time of these festivities the villages are decorated with flowers and coloured lights, snacks are prepared, wine is served, music bursts forth and the fireworks proclaim that “today is festa day!!!”
